Our Excellent Adventure to Thailand Part One

Hi all;

This is our initial post, so we thought we'd throw in a couple of pictures from our trip to Thailand earlier this year.

We took a train to Ayudttaya...3rd class. Dana was not impressed with the lack of air, the upright seats, etc., but we met some great people on the train. That was the whole purpose of the train part of the trip -- we were the only farangs (foreigners) on this section of the train.

The couple with the little boy were on their way to Ubon, a 12+ hour train ride. The little boy ended up on my lap, and I sang the "Elephant Song" to him. He liked it a lot.

The train security guard started out by trying to impress us with his English. Once he found out I spoke Thai, he stayed with us for an hour talking about everything from the government to his teenage kids...in Thai. His uniform was so threadbare it was shiny in the hazy sunlight; his gun may have worked once (20 years ago), but looked to be rusted shut.
Look for Part Two coming soon...

I think you need one of those Thai little boys at your house! Love the pictures, don't love the SKI vacations very much!

I second the "SKI" vacations. I like the GMI better. "Give Michelle the Inheritance" excellent idea.
